Tasting Pommard 1er cru les Argillières 2007 by Antoine Petitprez

Wines from the last shipping have been resting in the cellar for a good month now so it was eventually time to taste Pommard 1er cru les Argillieres 2007 by Petitprez. This wine is certainly one of the most subtle and also most fragile we have. Great reds from Cotes de Beaunes are often difficult to carry and they really dislike to be shaken. So I was a bit anxious before opening, I wanted to retrieve the schockingly good wine I tasted in France last spring. So... this wine just needs to oxygenate a bit and then it becomes talkative. It is a terroir wine from one of the best parcel in Cotes de Beaune with both red earth and marl. Very subtle. Not massive like Lavaux below but with great length and continuation in mouth and a retro-olfaction that calls for more. It is fruity since it is a 2007. It it nicely complex, strong and mineral but without any hint of harshness. May be too crazy? May be it cannot please everyone but this is really the kind of wines that makes me love Burgundy. Yes I am a sophisticated person and I drink Pommard 1er from Petitprez. Bravo Antoine!
