Parmesan is NOT Parmigiano

I wonder whether food business is Asia is all about ripping off naive customers...

Look at this so-called "Parmesan" cheese. "Parmigiano" is the name of a famous italian cheese and it is protected by the international trade regulations regarding geographical origins (IGP). Hence this name "Parmigiano" can only be used for the real parmigiano cheese produced only in Italy and under strict regulations, and nothing else!

For the case above, the name used is the french one for "Parmigiano", namely "Parmesan". This is the way we call that same italian cheese in France. So the french name is not protected under the IGP regulations. Therefore it was used by for naming the american-made cheese above for the japanese market. Beware it is not Parmigiano! We tasted it, it has no taste, like any american cheese. Of course it was sold cheap by japanese retailers. But it is no bargain, It is a scam.
