Kitakyushu Wine Seminar 3 - Thanks, pics & tasting notes. 第3回ワインセミナー(北九州) 後記

Wines in serving order: Meursault Limozin 2000 Henri Germain, Meursault 1er Cru Cras 2010 Buisson-Charles, Meursault 1er Cru Bouchères Buisson-Charles, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Combettes 1994 Michel Ampeau, Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2007 Henri Germain, Chambolle-Musigny Pierre Naigeon 07 (red).

Thanks to all who attended this session dedicated to Meursault wines. Special thanks to Asako-San and al for organizing sushis, soup and other side-dishes which happened to be great with tasting.

I could taste the wines quite well this time. I hope that you all noted that no wines show signs of oxydation or woody aromas...

According to me, Germain's wines (00 and 07) showed a nice evolution with a mix of very complex and pleasant aromas. Tasting blindly many people put Limozin 00 as their best wine and took it for a premier Cru. Charmes 07 was the last bottle of white I opened and everybody knew it was Charmes... I found both wines had simliaritities: elegance, balance, complexity and precision of aromas. A touch of glycerine for both but absolutely no heavyness whatsoever. Limozin might have some touch praline and liquorice. I remember a comment that Limozin tasted young... though the wine is 13 years old. Charmes had charatectic flavors of white flower - which ones I don't mind really but this is Charmes! In brief I really loved these aromas and Germain's style.

Buisson-Charles' wines are vinified by Patrick Essa who has certainly clear ideas about what he is doing. His wines are strong and precise wihout any common aromas, he likes to harvest quite mature grapes. Therefore his wines are never very acid and can be tatsed early though they are supposed to age very well. Having tasted the 09 last year, I knew we could taste Les Bouchères and Les Cras vintage 10, this time.  According to me they both tasted great: both powerful, rich and rather precise yet. But they will definitely improve with time, gaining complexity and fat. Both wines showed distinct minéralités. Bouchères has this slight saltiness, a taster thought there was a touch of CO2 with this wine... Well no, not really! It was not sparkling and that remained after opening. It is rather terroir here. A Cras has its typical taste of stone that could hardly be decribed with worlds and I won't attempt to do so. Some tasters found Cras and Bouchères their best wines but I really think that these wines will be even better in a few years giving even more pleasure.
Michel Ampeau's Puligny 1er Cru Combettes 94, was opened in advance and put for about two hours in a decanter. Last time that I tasted Ampeau's wines, the wine really got great the day after opening. I guess that this wine needed more air: there were still some signs of reduction. The wine was quite impressive though but I admit that I was a little disappointed. Combettes is a superb terroir! It was interesting to compare the styles of  Ampeau's Combettes and Germain's Charmes.

After 5 white wines, I served a Chambolle-Musigny 07 by Pierre Naigeon. I think that people appreciated it! I know this wine quite well.




ミッシェル・アンポーピュリニー プルミエ・クリュ コンベット 1994は、前もって抜栓し、2時間ほどデキャンターに移しておきました。前回アンポーのワインを試飲した時は、抜栓翌日に大変素晴らしかったです。微かな還元のニュアンスがあって、このワインは、もう少し空気にさらす必要があったかな、と思いました。このワインはかなり衝撃的だったのですが、正直言うとは私は少し落胆しました。コンベットは本当に素晴らしいテロワールなのです。アンポーのコンベットとジェルマンのシャルムのスタイルを比較するのもとても興味深かったです。

5種類の白ワインの後、ピエール・ネジョンのシャンボール・ミュジニー 2007を皆さんと楽しみました。私はこのワインは良く知っています。
